The Suleymaniye Mosque is an iconic sight in the city of Istanbul, Turkey. Built by the great Ottoman sultan Suleiman the Magnificent between 1550 and 1557, the structure is one of the most magnificent examples of Ottoman architecture in the world. The mosque is surrounded by a large complex containing eight smaller mosques, a bath, a soup kitchen, and a caravanserai. The main entrance, adorned with two elegant colonnades, is located on the north side. The grand central dome reaches over 53 meters in height, supported by four semi-domes and four minarets. The inside features magnificent marble columns, colorful stained glass windows, intricate Iznik tiles, and several intricately carved Quranic inscriptions. The complex offers visitors the chance to gain insight into the grandeur of the Ottoman Empire while offering a stunning view of the city.
