Süleymaniye Camii or Süleymaniye Mosque is one of the most important and impressive mosques in Istanbul. This majestic building was constructed by the renowned Ottoman architect, Sinan, in the 16th century during the rule of Suleyman the Magnificent. It stands atop one of the seven hills of Istanbul and offers amazing views of the city. The mosque is an example of the classical Ottoman architecture and is built in a traditional cruciform plan. Inside, you can find intricate decorations and ornate architecture. The central dome is surrounded by four semi-domes and four minarets, with two smaller ones each located on two sides at the entrance gate. The interior of the mosque is decorated with hand-crafted marble, intricate stone carvings, and lovely stained glass. Visitors to Süleymaniye Camii must wear appropriate clothing, and non-Muslims are welcome to visit the courtyard but not the actual mosque.
