Street art in Brussels is woven through the historic center and surrounding neighborhoods, turning brick façades, shutters and blank side walls into an open-air record of the city’s visual culture. Its most distinctive strand is the Comic Book Route, whose large murals celebrate Belgium’s bande dessinée tradition with characters such as Tintin, the Smurfs and Lucky Luke. Alongside these narrative scenes are contemporary murals, stencils and painted interventions that shift from polished commissions to temporary layers of urban expression. For photographs, the strongest compositions often include the surrounding architecture: towering artwork framed by narrow streets, cafés, bicycles and the everyday movement of the Belgian capital.
