📍 From East Side, Germany
Steinbruch is a former limestone quarry situated in Halle, Westfalen, Germany. It is well-known for its stunning karst landscape, formed by the dissolution of limestone over thousands of years. The vast, open limestone landscape is a great place for outdoor activities, such as long walks and even trail running. The rock walls are also good for hiking and climbing, especially in the warmer months. There are numerous man-made caves from undergoing mining operations, as well as a stream running through the quarry. The wildlife here is also amazing in Spring and Summer, when different species of butterflies make the area their home. Bird watching could also be done if with a bit of patience. As a former mining area, Steinbruch also offers a glimpse into Westfalen's mining heritage, providing insights in the mining industry of the region.
