The iconic Statue of Liberty located in New York Harbor stands 305 feet tall and has become an enduring symbol of freedom throughout the United States. The copper statue was a gift to the nation from France in 1886. A climb to the Crown requires a ticket and involves a 354-step climb up a narrow stairway. Visitors to the base of the Statue of Liberty will find a museum, allowing them to learn about the history and significance of the Statue. Ranger-led programs provide visitors with opportunities to learn more about the history of the Statue. Ferry tickets are available for visitors wishing to explore Liberty Island, the small island upon which the Statue sits.
