The Statue of Liberty is an iconic cultural symbol and America’s national monument. Standing in the Jersey City harbor in the United States, this majestic sculpture was a gift from the people of France to the United States in 1886. The Statue heralds the arrival of immigrants to America, and stands as a reminder of core values such as freedom, democracy and hope. The statue is made of copper sheeting covering a steel structure designed by Gustave Eiffel. At 46 meters tall, and with a brilliant gold flame in her right arm, she is a must-see attraction for all visitors! You can get up close to the statue with a visit to Liberty Island, where you’ll find a museum, gift shop and a theater. For the best views of the statue and the New York harbor, take a ferry across the river to NYC.
