📍 Russia
Staryy Korabl’, meaning “Old Ship,” is a weathered vessel on the shore at Teriberka, a fishing settlement on the Barents Sea in Russia’s Murmansk region. Set against a treeless Arctic coastline, the stranded hull evokes the village’s long dependence on the sea and the decline that left several boats abandoned around the bay. Its worn surfaces, exposed structure, and stark silhouette contrast with the beach, low tundra, and cold northern water, while changing fog, snow, and polar light can make the scene appear either austere or unexpectedly vivid.
