Staria Grad or “Old Town” in Nessebur is an ancient city located on the Black Sea coast in Bulgaria. Known for its historical monuments, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its winding streets, wooden houses and old churches with white-striped roofs offer a lot to explore. The most important landmark in Staria Grad is the 11th century remains of the Old Bulgarian Fortress, built in the typical Byzantine style with occasional examples of Romanesque architecture. The old town is a great place to wander through and admire the old homes and churches, cobbled streets and small squares, surrounded by picturesque colonial houses. It's also a great spot for lunch and dinner, as the local restaurants serve delicious Mediterranean and Bulgarian dishes with fresh seafood. Visit nearby beaches and take a trip on the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast, or take a boat tour of Nessebur to see the small fishing boats off the shore.
