Stare Miasto, or the Old Town of Warsaw, is among the city’s most vibrant districts. Here you can admire monuments from different eras — from the Middle Ages to the post-war period. The Old Town is located on an island, surrounded by a branch of the Vistula River and two of its tributaries. This UNESCO-listed area is filled with historical landmarks, religious buildings, and unpredictable street art. Check out the Town Hall Tower, the Sigismund’s Column, St. John’s Cathedral, and Old Town Market Square — one of the city’s largest and most beautiful squares. Dotted along the cobbled streets of Stare Miasto, there are plenty of souvenir stores, so you can take back some local keepsakes. Food-wise, the district is home to traditional and cozy spots serving Polish dishes.
