Stac Pollaidh is a mountain located in Assynt, Sutherland, North West Scotland. It is part of the Northwest Highlands Geopark and has a unique tor shape that can be seen from miles away. The ascent is fairly easy and suitable for most fitness levels. It takes around 3 hours to reach the summit, passing through a vast array of contrasting landscapes. From the top, spectacular views of Assynt’s lochs and mountains are available, and on a clear day you can see as far as the Isle of Skye. As you ascend, you will find scattered patches of grass, boulder fields, scree and scree slopes. In the winter months these can offer great opportunities for scrambling and rock-climbing. Many wildlife species can be seen near the summit, from hares and golden eagles, to buzzards and ravens. Pack a picnic and enjoy Scotland at its finest!
