St. Thomas Tower
📍 From Triq Is-Salini, Malta
The St. Thomas Tower in Wied il-Għajn, Malta serves as a reminder of Malta’s rich past as a fortified city. Built in 1614 by Grand Master Alof de Wignacourt, the tower has stood the test of time and remains a popular tourist attraction in the area. An imposing watchtower, it stands at the entrance to Marsa Creek, where pirates used to hide their ships. Visiting the tower gives you a spectacular view of the Senglea Creek and the surrounding harbor. You can also spot many Maltese fishing boats and small yachts, adding to the picture-perfect scene. Offering perhaps the best viewpoint of the harbor, St. Thomas Tower has become renowned among photographers in the area. Visitors should also take a look inside, as the tower has recently been restored and parts have been opened to the public.
