St. Stephen's Basilica in Budapest is a stunning example of Neo-Classical architecture and one of Hungary's most important religious buildings. Completed in 1905 after 54 years of construction, the basilica is named after Hungary's first king, St. Stephen, whose mummified right hand is preserved as a relic inside. Its dome, soaring to a height of 96 meters, offers panoramic views of the city for visitors who climb the 364 steps or take the elevator. The interior is richly decorated with marble, mosaics, and stained glass, reflecting Hungary's artistic heritage. The basilica also serves as a concert venue, hosting regular organ performances that enhance its spiritual ambiance. Entry is usually free, though donations are encouraged, and a dress code is enforced to maintain the sanctity of the space.
