St. Peter Cathedral

St. Peter’s Cathedral is a landmark of the historic city of Osnabrück, located north of the River Weser in the German state of Lower Saxony. It is the oldest Catholic church in Osnabrück, dating back to the 12th century. At present, it is a lively baroque church with lively weekly masses. The architecture is an interesting mix of Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque styles. Inside, you can admire the imposing architecture of the walls, as well as some interesting frescoes and sculptures. The church also contains many relics and artwork that have been preserved and restored over the years. Special highlight is the Baroque window frame of the front of the building. The gardens of the cathedral are open to visitors and offer several paths to explore. The magnificent view from the domed tower is the icing on the cake and well worth a climb!
