St. Paul's Cathedral, located in Greater London, United Kingdom, is an iconic structure prominently standing on Ludgate Hill at the highest point of the City of London. Designed by Christopher Wren, the relic of baroque architecture took 35 years to build and was completed in 1710. The masterpiece features a huge, oval dome rising 365 feet, which can be easily seen in many city views. It is one of the largest cathedrals in the world and the most iconic landmark in London. The dome is adorned by sculptures of angels, decorated with mosaics of oak leaves, and the Baroque-style dome is painted with Union Jack stripes, symbolic of British history. There is a Whispering Gallery around the interior of the dome, a description of its acoustic properties given to its name. From the ground around the Cathedral, visitors can trace the inscriptions in Latin that decorate the entrance. There are also many artworks and artifacts scattered around the cathedral, from Christopher Wren’s burial place beneath its floor to the Hanging Monument that entails history.
