St Pancras Hotel
📍 From The Standard London, United Kingdom
St Pancras Hotel occupies the grand Gothic Revival frontage of St Pancras International station on Euston Road, beside King’s Cross. Designed by George Gilbert Scott for the Midland Railway, it opened in 1873 as the Midland Grand Hotel, expressing the confidence and ambition of Victorian railway travel. Red brick, pale stone dressings, pointed arches and a prominent clock tower give the building its distinctive silhouette; the long, curving façade reveals its scale from across Euston Road. Inside, the sweeping grand staircase and richly patterned decoration extend the theatrical effect of the exterior. After decades out of hotel use, the building reopened to guests in 2011, restoring its original role as a gateway between London and the railway.
