📍 Estonia
Dedicated to St. Nicholas, the patron saint of merchants and sailors, this medieval church now functions partly as a museum, showcasing precious ecclesiastical art and exquisite altarpieces from the Middle Ages. Highlights include the haunting “Dance Macabre” painting by Bernt Notke and the beautiful Golden Altar from the late Gothic period. Though heavily damaged during World War II, St. Nicholas’ Church was carefully restored, combining historic architecture with modern exhibition spaces. Visitors can attend organ concerts to experience the venue’s majestic acoustics, or simply admire the serene interior that reflects centuries of Baltic history.
