📍 From Church, Ireland
St James' Church is a beautiful, historic landmark located in Phoenix Park, Dublin, Ireland. Situated among one of Dublin’s largest parks, this striking red brick structure was built at the beginning of the 18th century and stands today as a stunning reminder of history. The plain façade, mentioned in Thackeray’s "Vanity Fair" and home to many a wedding photo shoot, is impressive enough. But it’s the simple yet iconic onion dome that really sets this church apart from its surroundings. Step inside and you will find a small gallery chapel with a series of striking stained-glass windows, as well as an array of monuments and historic features. There is also an interesting story behind the bell tower – which has recently been renovated – as it was originally taken to St. James’ from an abandoned prison in Ireland. Its presence still adds a certain charm to the building. Whether you walk around the grounds or step ahead inside St James, this historic church and former army chapel is worth a visit.
