📍 From The Wharf, United Kingdom
St Ives Harbour is the tidal heart of this fishing town on Cornwall’s north coast, opening onto St Ives Bay. Behind the waterfront, the narrow lanes and tightly packed cottages of Downalong preserve the character of the old fishing quarter, while the town’s long association with artists gives the working seafront another layer of cultural history. Smeaton’s Pier shelters the harbour and carries two small lighthouses, reflecting successive stages of the pier’s development. The tide transforms the scene: at low water, broad sands emerge and moored boats settle on the harbour floor; at high water, the sea fills the basin beneath the waterfront buildings. Curving rows of pale façades, slate roofs and colourful boats make the harbour recognizable from both the beach and the pier.
