St Ives is a harbour town on Cornwall’s north coast, where narrow lanes run between whitewashed cottages toward the water. Its fishing heritage remains visible in the boats along the quay, while its long association with modern British art is reflected in Tate St Ives and Barbara Hepworth’s former studio and sculpture garden. The harbour changes strikingly with the tide: at low water, boats rest on pale sand beneath the clustered waterfront buildings. Beyond the town, Porthmeor Beach faces the open Atlantic.
