Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple
📍 Singapore
Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple stands on Serangoon Road at the northern edge of Little India, serving Singapore’s Hindu community as a major shrine to Vishnu in his form as Srinivasa Perumal. Established in the 19th century and later extensively rebuilt, it is recognized as a National Monument. Its most distinctive feature is the tall, richly ornamented gopuram, crowded with vividly painted deities and mythological figures; viewed from across the road, the tower forms a striking contrast with the dense urban streetscape. The temple is also the traditional starting point of Singapore’s annual Thaipusam procession to Sri Thendayuthapani Temple. Visitors should remove footwear before entering, dress respectfully, and avoid disrupting worship; permission should be sought before photographing interior rituals or devotees.
