Split Rock Lighthouse is an iconic lighthouse located in Beaver Bay, United States. It was built in the early 20th century as a navigational beacon for ships passing through Lake Superior. The lighthouse is constructed out of native basalt and stands 75 feet tall, with a light that can be seen out to 20 nautical miles. It boasts spectacular views of the lake and can be reached by a short but winding drive from nearby Silver Bay. Today, the lighthouse is open to the public and offers tours of the facility as well as opportunities to explore the grounds. Visitors also have the chance to spot some of the local wildlife. It is the most photographed lighthouse in Minnesota and continues to attract visitors from all over the world.
