Spiaggia Libera in Santa Margherita Ligure is the town’s public stretch of shoreline along the palm-lined seafront promenade, sitting between the marina and the low hills that cradle this Ligurian town. Its visual interest comes from the juxtaposition of small, rounded pebbles and gently lapping water against a backdrop of pastel façades, striped awnings and clustered boats, a compact coastal tableau typical of the Gulf of Tigullio. Photographers will notice strong horizontal layers—pebble texture in the foreground, a narrow band of sea, then the built waterfront and rising green slopes—plus colorful local activity from bathers and moored craft that punctuate compositions. Access is from the promenade and there are both free public areas and adjacent private lidos along the same seafront.
