The Sormano Astronomical Observatory is situated in Sormano, a small town in the Italian Alps. It was founded in 1906 by engineer and astronomer Alfredo Descalzi and astronomical draftsman Bernardino Gualandi. It is located close to the Pian del Tivano Nature Reserve and from its terrace, you have an incredible view of the mountain as well as some of the most impressive astrophotography conditions in Italy. Inside there is an interesting observatory museum and a museum dedicated to the history of Sormano. Visitors can enjoy lectures of astronomy, registration to carry out their stargazing experiences and purchase a selection of souvenirs in the gift shop. The observatory also holds a special workshop called "Portalluna" to teach both Children and adults all the secrets of astronomy.
