Solheimasandur Plane Wreck, in Iceland, is an iconic photographic location. It is the remains of a United States Navy DC-3 airplane that ran out of fuel and crashed into a desolate beach in 1973. Since then people have been visiting the area to witness the remnants of what once was an operational plane and snap a few pictures. The plane has since been nearly engulfed by nature, making for a unique and photogenic encounter. Its location is just off the Ring Road, making access incredibly easy. Despite its popularity, it remains an eerily quiet spot, with only the shrieks of the nearby seabirds filling the air. You'll find plenty of space to explore and take pictures. But be careful and respect the wreckage!
