๐ From Route 199, United States
Smith River is located in Gasquet, California and is one of the most picturesque rivers on the West Coast. The river is easily accessible and runs through a dense, heavily forested area; it has an excellent variety of fish, wildlife, trees, and vegetation. Along its banks and surrounding cliffs, you can find a wide variety of birds, including egrets, blue herons, and sandpipers. The area is also popular with photographers looking to photograph the river's seasonal wildflowers, including bleeding heart and California poppies. Popular activities in the area include fishing, camping, hiking, and gold panning. There are several access points, including a public launch near the Gasquet Store, and other launch locations that are provided by private companies. Please be aware of the current conditions, such as rising water levels and dangerous rapids, prior to engaging in activities.
