📍 From Riverside, United States
Smith River, in Gasquet, United States, is a breathtaking river that flows through Northern California. Formed by the Bald Hills Creek and the South Fork Smith River (which originates in Oregon), Smith River is the longest free-flowing, undeveloped and untouched river in the state. It is also the only river within California that hosts an intact river complex, with tributaries, wetlands, and riparian areas that are essential for maintaining species diversity. The river provides numerous recreational opportunities, such as rafting, kayaking, fly fishing, camping and bird watching. Along the rivers there are numerous bridges, rock formations, and calming sections. Visitors can also explore the surrounding national forests at Smith River NRA, Six Rivers National Forest, Redwood National Forest and Siskiyou National Forest. The river is also home to a variety of fish and creatures, making it a popular spot for anglers.
