Lake Manyara National Park, Tanzania, is situated in the Great Rift Valley, between the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Conservation Area. It is a compact but diverse area, with acacia woodlands, groundwater forest, swamps and the lake itself. The park is part of the UNESCO-listed Ngorongoro Conservation Area and covers an area of 330 square kilometers. It is known for its population of tree-climbing lions and its large flocks of flamingos (up to 2 million). Other features include hippos, baboons, primates, giraffes, zebras, impalas, wildebeest, elephants, buffaloes, babblers, starlings, and more than 400 species of birds. Visitors can take guided safaris within the park, as well as canoeing, fishing and game drives. For overnight stays, there are lodges, tented camps, and public campsites. This beautiful national park is a must-visit for any wildlife enthusiast.
