Sint-Maartenskerk is a beautiful 13th century church located in Zaltbommel, Netherlands. This historic site of pilgrimage is one of the best examples of medieval Architecture found in the Netherlands. The south side of the church has an archway entrance, with a stepped gable roof and a large rose window in the east wall. The interior of the church is quite ornate with wooden carved decorations, colorful paintings and large light-filled windows with stained-glass additions. The church offers several interesting features, including a tower from the 16th century which is still in use by the bells and a large chapel with a deep crypt. The walls of the chapel are also decorated with paintings and other decorations, including the large organ. Visitors may also appreciate some of the graves nearby. Sint-Maartenskerk is open to visitors daily and admission is free. You can get a glimpse of the long and prosperous history of this extraordinary place.
