📍 Norway
Sinnataggen is a small, fiercely expressive bronze sculpture of a toddler stomping in anger, created by Norwegian sculptor Gustav Vigeland and installed in Oslo’s Vigeland Sculpture Park (Frogner Park). Though modest in scale, it has become an iconic symbol of the park and of Oslo, prized for its raw, humorous capture of human emotion amid Vigeland’s grand allegorical program.

Sculpted in the early 20th century as part of Vigeland’s life‑cycle ensemble, Sinnataggen sits on the central bridge that leads toward the Monolith Plateau, surrounded by dozens of other human figures. Its dramatic pose—furrowed brow, clenched fists, puckered mouth—demonstrates Vigeland’s ability to convey complex psychological states in simplified form. Cast in bronze to withstand outdoor display, the figure’s patina and polished surfaces from frequent touching add to its visual character. Uniquely, Sinnataggen draws intense public affection: it is arguably the park’s most photographed work and a local touchstone for visitors. The statue has inspired replicas, souvenirs and cultural references in Norway, and park staff sometimes temporarily remove or protect it during conservation or special events, underscoring its status within Vigeland’s monumental sculptural program.
