Silent Valley Reservoir is a man-made lake located near the town of Ballinran in the United Kingdom. It was built in 1853 to provide drinking water to the surrounding area, but it is now a popular leisure spot that can be enjoyed by the public. The lake is surrounded by lush green hills and tranquil woodland and is home to a variety of wildlife. There are two walking routes around the reservoir which offer superb views. The route nearest the inlet is a loop of about 1.5 miles and provides varying perspectives of the lake and its surrounding countryside. The second route, which starts at the reservoir car park, is slightly longer, at over 2.5 miles, and circles the lake from a slightly higher vantage point. Both routes are suitable for walkers of all ages and fitness levels. There is a small riverside cafe and pub at the nearby village of Annagh, which is a great place to rest and enjoy a bite to eat. From the pub, you can access a boardwalk which follows the shore of the lake and also offers excellent views.
