The Siebersturm is a late-14th-century gate tower on the southern side of Rothenburg ob der Tauber’s old town. It once marked the town boundary before the fortifications expanded to include the Spital quarter. The tower rises directly behind the Plönlein, the small forked square whose yellow half-timbered house, fountain, cobbled lanes, and two diverging routes form Rothenburg’s most recognizable street scene. From the square, the Siebersturm anchors the uphill branch with its tall stone gateway, clock face, and steep tiled roof, while the other lane descends toward the Kobolzeller Tor. This layered view compresses domestic architecture, defensive history, and the sloping medieval street plan into a single composition.
