Located in the center of Cholula, in Puebla, Mexico, the Shrine of Our Lady of Remedies is a well-known artistic landmark. It is a very important sacred site for local inhabitants, perched on the ruins of an old church.
The shrine is known for its murals on the interior walls, which depict the lives of the three saints associated with the shrine: Our Lady of Remedies, St. Rose of Lima and St. Martin of Porres. It is crowned with a large image of the Virgin Mary and an additional large mural of her surrounded by scenes from her life. Another feature of this shrine is the miraculously cured sick man on the front facade. Inside, the shrine is home to a number of sculptures, an impressive central altar, and a small chapel which features a recessed niche in the wall, beautifully embellished with stucco. Visitors can explore the open-air museum, enjoy a panoramic view of Puebla from the terrace and observe the pilgrimage activities of the local devotees.
