📍 New Zealand
Shotover Jet runs high-speed jet-boat rides through the Shotover River canyons at Arthurs Point, just north of Queenstown. Operating since 1965 and now part of Ngāi Tahu Tourism, it is a long-established feature of the town’s adventure-tourism identity. The river has an older place in local history as an important gold-mining waterway during Otago’s 1860s gold rush. Its recognizable modern scene pairs bright red boats with steep, weathered canyon walls, narrow river bends and trailing white spray. Water-jet propulsion allows the boats to navigate shallow channels, while their signature 360-degree spins turn the river’s confined setting into a spectacle of movement and scale.
