The Shipwreck Zone in Augusta, Italy lies within the boundaries of Augusta Bay, off the south-eastern coast of Sicily on the Ionian Sea. It is an idyllic diving spot featuring a variety of geological features including coral reefs, shipwrecks, and a wide array of sea life. Divers can also explore several submerged caves, overhangs, and reefs filled with vibrant sea flora and fauna. Dive depths range from 10-30m and can offer up some spectacular views of the unique landscape. Due to its proximity to land, the zone is a great spot for beginner divers who don’t want to venture too far away. Among the species of sea life spotted here are seahorses, dolphins, moray eels, bream, gurnard, and grouper. With its variety of underwater features, it’s no surprise that this spot is a popular destination among recreational and technical divers as well.
