📍 From Drone, Greece
Shipwreck Beach, or Navagio, is an isolated cove on the northwestern coast of Zakynthos, enclosed by towering white limestone cliffs and reached from the sea. Its defining landmark is the rusting wreck of the MV Panagiotis, which ran aground in 1980 and now rests on the pale pebble shore. From the clifftop viewpoint, the cove forms a near-theatrical composition: sheer rock walls, a narrow strip of white beach, the corroded vessel and intense blue water lightened by suspended limestone. The contrast between natural erosion and decaying steel has made Navagio one of Greece’s most recognizable coastal scenes. Rockfall risk has led to landing bans and restrictions around parts of the overlook, so access is governed by current safety measures.
