Seal Rocks
📍 From Vista Del Mar, United States
Seal Rocks are a cluster of rocky islets just offshore from the northern end of Ocean Beach, below San Francisco’s Cliff House. Historically a haul-out for sea lions, they were part of the coastal spectacle that drew visitors to the Cliff House and nearby Sutro Baths. Their irregular silhouettes stand against the open Pacific, with breaking waves outlining their bases and seabirds gathering on the exposed stone. From the bluff near the Cliff House, the rocks anchor views across the surf toward Ocean Beach; tighter compositions emphasize the contrast between dark, weathered rock and white foam. Fog can soften the horizon, while clear conditions reveal their isolation from the mainland.
