SeaCliff Pier - Cement Ship, also known as the S.S. Palo Alto, is a unique coastal structure found off the coast of Aptos, California. It is the only one of its kind in the world. The S.S. Palo Alto was pilled in 1929 and was part of an ambitious plan to create a harbor by an elaborate network of cement ships. The plan was abandoned due to stormy weather, leaving the S.S. Palo Alto standing alone in the open sea today. Its unique shape jutting out of the blue-green waters makes it a popular destination for photographers looking to capture a unique coastal landmark. It is easily reached by walking on the pier which stretches out to where the ship lies, and can be seen from many spots on the beach. Experiencing this peculiar spectacle is sure to leave you with a lasting memory.
