📍 India
The sculptures at Jawahar Kala Kendra sit within Jaipur’s multidisciplinary arts centre on Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, placing them in a setting devoted to visual art, performance and Rajasthan’s cultural life. Designed by Charles Correa, the complex draws on Jaipur’s nine-square city plan and the navagraha, the nine celestial bodies of Indian cosmology. Its red sandstone surfaces, angular walls and open courtyards give sculpture a distinctive architectural context. In photographs, the relationship between sculptural forms and the building’s strong geometry conveys scale while linking individual artworks to the centre’s broader dialogue between traditional ideas and modern design.
