Schlossgarten Erlangen is the formal garden behind the Markgräfliches Schloss in the city center, now closely integrated with the campus of Friedrich-Alexander-Universität. Broad lawns, straight avenues and carefully ordered planting retain the clarity of its Baroque origins, while mature trees give the space the character of an urban park. The sculptural Hugenottenbrunnen forms a distinctive focal point and recalls the Huguenot community that shaped Erlangen’s development. Nearby, the elegant Orangerie and palace façades provide strong architectural backdrops, with axial paths, layered greenery and seasonal foliage emphasizing symmetry and depth. The garden also hosts the university’s annual Schlossgartenfest, when this usually open civic space becomes a formal celebration venue.
