Schloss Solitude is a beautiful 18th century palace located in the suburbs of Stuttgart, Germany. Its name translates to "isolation" in English, giving a sense of the isolated grandeur of the estate. Built in 1764-69 by Elector Karl Eugen of Württemberg, Schloss Solitude was initially intended to serve as a hunting lodge and later served as the royal residence until the castle’s demolition in 1967. Today, the restored site is now open to public as a place of culture and history. Visitors can explore the royal apartments, the beautiful gardens, and the great staircase in the northwestern wing of the castle. The castle also features a large collection of historic maps, drawings, paintings, and archaeological artifacts. Visitors can also visit the Courtyard of Honor, the Orangerie or the Romantic Garden near the palace which includes a spectacular view of the city. As such, Schloss Solitude is a great place for those seeking a relaxing trip or romantic getaway.
