Schlern
📍 From Pfarrplatz, Italy
Schlern, known in Italian as Sciliar, is the distinctive Dolomite massif south of Chiusa and on the western edge of the Alpe di Siusi. Its broad, table-like summit culminates at Petz, while the sharply separated Santner and Euringer towers give the mountain its recognizable silhouette. The contrast between pale, weathered rock walls, dark conifer slopes, and the open plateau makes Schlern a defining feature of the South Tyrolean landscape. From the Chiusa area, its profile appears beyond the Eisack Valley’s layered ridges; low-angle light can warm the limestone and emphasize the massif’s unusual mix of horizontal mass and slender pinnacles.
