The Schiffshebewerke Niederfinow is a remarkable boat lift located in Niederfinow, Germany. It is one of the oldest and most significant engineering feats in the country, completed in 1934. The lift serves as a crucial link on the Oder-Havel Canal, allowing ships to bypass a 36-meter elevation difference. This impressive structure is 60 meters high, 94 meters long, and 27 meters wide, capable of lifting vessels weighing up to 2,500 tons.

The boat lift is an architectural marvel, combining steel framework with a massive water basin that moves vertically. A new, modern lift was completed nearby in 2022 to accommodate larger vessels, but the original remains operational and is a popular tourist attraction. Visitors can explore the site, witness the lift in action, and enjoy stunning views of the surrounding landscape from viewing platforms. The Schiffshebewerke Niederfinow is not only a functional piece of infrastructure but also a testament to the ingenuity of early 20th-century engineering.
