The Scalinata di Trinità dei Monti (or Spanish Steps) is considered one of the most iconic attractions in all of Rome, Italy. The monumental staircase, built by Francesco de Sanctis and Alessandro Specchi from 1723 to 1726, is divided into two parts. At the top is the beautiful Church of Trinità dei Monti and at the base of the steps is the Piazza di Spagna. The glorious beauty of the Scalinata has been the subject of countless photographs, films, legends and romantic stories. A stroll up the 138 steps is enough to appreciate its grandeur, while the stunning views of Rome from the top make the climb worth the effort. Along the way, the fountains, courtyards and elegant terraces of the surrounding buildings add to the picturesque setting.
