📍 From Viewpoint, Italy
Scala dei Turchi is a beautiful snow-white cliff located at the coastline of Realmonte in Sicily, Italy. Its name, meaning "Ladder of the Turks", originates from the 17th century when it was thought to have been used as a landing platform by pirates. On the top of the cliff there is an archaeological park that includes the ruins of a Saracen watchtower.

The most distinctive feature of this attraction is its amazing smooth, almost perfect seaside steps, made of marl (a soft, crystalline limestone). A walking path provides access to the top of the cliff which offers stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea. There are many caves at sea level that can be explored at low tide. Scala dei Turchi is a famous tourist destination and a popular spot for photography. While the best lighting can be experienced just before and after sunset, visitors can marvel at its beauty at any time of day. The unique landscape and its unusual color truly make Scala dei Turchi a must-see in Realmonte.
