Sarushima Fortress, located in Yokosuka, Japan, was built during the late Edo period in the mid-1800s to protect the area from foreign invasions. The fortress, which is now an uninhabited island, is located in Tokyo Bay and is accessible by ferry from Yokosuka Naval Base or by a bridge from Oshima Island. The fortress is a fascinating site and is the only uninhabited island in the bay. Visitors can explore and enjoy the scenery around the fortress, which includes a lighthouse, a cannons, a turret and guardhouses. The site also features pathways that lead to a beach and a picnic area, and is also home to a variety of wildlife too. It's perfect for a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo, making it a great spot to relax and unwind.
