São Clemente Fort is a 16th century coastal defense in Vila Nova de Milfontes, Portugal. At the mouth of the Mira river, it was built to protect the cross-shore trading between inland settlements and the open sea. It's a prime example of the Portuguese coastal defense architecture, featuring two main towers, 2 bastions and a defended perimeter wall. Inside the fort there is a well to provide fresh water. It's a great spot for photographers looking to capture the defense structure of a well-preserved fort. Visitors can observe the entrance of the Mira river, and the amazing views of the cliffside and fortress from the top of the towers.
