Located in the stunningly beautiful area of Tropea in the Calabria region of southwest Italy, the Santuario di Santa Maria dell'Isola di Tropea is a stunning 14th century sanctuary perched atop an island surrounded by the rugged cliffs of coastal Italy. It is a highlight for photographers, for its rustic and ethereal beauty created by the combination of the impressive cliffs, the crystal blue waters surrounding the island, and the sanctuary itself. Its most iconic feature is the serpentine path of 130 steps that winds their way up from the main town of Tropea to the very top of the island. At its peak, visitors will be rewarded with stunning views of the coastline and beyond.
