The Santuario de San Pedro Claver is located in the historic centre of Cartagena de Indias, Colombia. It is the first Jesuit Church in the area and a must-see religious site. The Sanctuary of San Pedro Claver, also known as San Pedro Claver Cathedral, was built in 1654 as an homage to Saint Peter Claver, a Jesuit priest and missionary who dedicated his life to helping slaves and promoting the Christian faith in Colombia. Inside the church, you can find several frescoes, paintings and other religious items. In addition, in front of the church is a large bronze statue of Saint Peter Claver, a reminder of his dedication and commitment to the less fortunate. The surrounding plaza is a great place to relax, people watch and explore the unique culture and history of the city. It's a great spot to snap a few photos; however, the best time for visit depend of individual tastes and needs.
