Santa Maria del Buonconsiglio is an open-air archaeological site in Bari Vecchia, near the old town’s seaward edge. Its surviving columns, stone bases, low walls and fragments of patterned pavement outline a medieval church that once occupied the square. Rather than presenting a complete monument, the site reveals the building’s scale through its exposed footprint, with pale masonry standing against the tightly packed houses of historic Bari. The repeated columns and geometric floor details create strong visual rhythms, while the surrounding balconies and weathered façades place the ruins within the everyday fabric of the old quarter.
