Santa Maria Cemetery

Santa Maria Cemetery, located in Puerto Rico's capital of San Juan, is the largest cemetery in the city and one of the most iconic sites in Puerto Rico. The cemetery was founded in 1836 and many of its tombs feature beautifully-preserved monuments and sculptures. As you walk through the cemetery you'll discover many interesting stories behind the monuments and their inhabitants, as well as their final resting places. The cemetery also serves as a sanctuary for local wildlife since the entrance is surrounded by a moat and the grounds are filled with lush vegetation.
